Ceiling Cross

Hanging above the altar is the large crucifix (cross with Christ's body shown) suspended from the ceiling.

Some new visitors to the church may be more familiar with an empty cross, indicating that Jesus overcame death through the resurrection. However, the image of Christ on the Cross equally celebrates the triumph over death and sin. It reminds us of God's infinite love - the Son's willingness to die for us.

"Greater love
has no man
than he lay down
his life
for his friends" (John 15:13)

Jesus on the Cross is a 'sign of contradiction' as St. Paul, writes, “For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God” (1 Corinthians. 1:18)

Galatians 2:20

"I live by faith in
the Son of God,
who loved me and
gave himself for me"

Colossians 3:1

"If then you have
been raised with Christ,
seek the things that are above,
where Christ is, seated at the
right hand of God."
