VOCATIONS Catholic Hythe

Fortified by so many and such powerful means of salvation, all the faithful, whatever their condition or state, are called by the Lord, each in his own way, to that perfect holiness whereby the Father Himself is perfect - from Vatican II Dogmatic Constitution of The Church Lumen Gentium
Prayer for Vocations

O God, who wills not the death of a sinner, but rather that he be converted and live, grant we beseech You, through the intercession of the Blessed Mary, ever virgin and all the saints, an increase of labourers for Your Church; fellow labourers with Christ; to spend and consume themselves for souls, through the same Jesus Christ, Your Son,who lives and reigns with You,in the union of the Holy Spirit, world without end. Amen.

Discerning Your Vocation

"Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine." Isaiah 43:1

"Love is the fundamental and innate vocation of every human being" (Familiaris Consortio)

All Christians are called to a vocation -- God's unique plan for each person to draw them to Himself, who is love. For most, their vocation is to marry. Others are called to be a deacon or to the single life as a layperson, priest, brother, or nun. At the heart of all true vocations is the call to love - this is beautifully expressed in Pope John Paul's, "Familiaris Consortio" - On the role of the Christian Family in the modern world.

"God created man in His own image and likeness : calling him to existence through love, He called him at the same time for love.God is love and in Himself He lives a mystery of personal loving communion. Creating the human race in His own image and continually keeping it in being, God inscribed in the humanity of man and woman the vocation, and thus the capacity and responsibility, of love and communion. Love is therefore the fundamental and innate vocation of every human being." (Familiaris Consortio, paragraph 11)

At Catholic Hythe we encourage all members of our community to reflect on their vocation and offer personal guidance to those struggling to discern their vocation.

Please contact the Parish Priest if you would like further guidance on discerning vocation.
